The Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle State Park is one of the top whitewater destinations in the eastern United States, offering guided and self-guided rafting trips ranging from mild family-friendly floats to exciting Class III–IV rapids.
The Laurel Highlands are known for excellent trout fishing in cold-water streams and stocked waters, including popular spots in Kooser State Park, Linn Run, Laurel Hill Lake, and stretches of the Youghiogheny River.
Swimming is available at several local state park lakes and designated areas, most notably the beach at Laurel Hill State Park’s 63-acre lake, along with seasonal swimming opportunities at resort pools and natural stream spots in the surrounding parks.
